Following anything blindly is foolhardy. Even if the view and aims are correct, without questioning EVERYTHING, there is no point in believing anything.
Remember, its blind faith in a cause that makes for terrorists.
When the tyrant has disposed of foreign enemies by conquest or treaty, and there is nothing to fear from them, then he is always stirring up some war or other in order that the people may require a leader.
- Plato
In Germany they first came for the Communists and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for the trade unionists and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Catholics, and I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant. Then they came for me--and by that time no one was left to speak up.

Just because you don't believe there is a problem, doesn't mean that it won't come back eventually to get you and your liberties, too.
EDIT: you can call me anti-patriotic all you want for questioning everything from your narrow point of view. I did my duty, and broke my back in 2 places in doings so. I was paralysed for 6 months and spent the next year learning how to control my legs again. I'd do it again. I'm currently trying to get onto the Scottsdale Police department. I do what I do, and say what I say because I believe in my country, but I also believe that it could be better. It could be, someday again, great.

What do you mean by blindly and foolheartedly??
Anyway, after taking PHL last semester, i like your approach that we much question everything. However, I personally feel no reason to question what I believe in, so I do not question it.
PS- I thank you for your military service for this country. but I dont think the religion issue is keeping our country from being 'great.' When was the country 'greater'?
Beleive what you want to beleive.
Do what you want to do.
Think what you want to think.
You are free to do so in this country.
But when some group starts making their view/beleive into laws to force me to do as they do, that's when I get pissed. This is (WAS) a FREE country. Patriotism means believing in this nations constition and it's freedoms. The current government however is (in my opinion) unconstitional. They are breaking the constition to serve their own finacial gain. So I am being a true patriot and I am asking questions and I want answers. Which thus far the executive branch has been unwilling to give.

Whose forcing you to believe anything...?

If you are refereing to Religion, if anything, the christian belief that is 'so forced on everyone' is significantly less. Whens the last time someone said 'Merry Christmas.' Everything is 'Happy Holidays' now to make everyone happy. More court cases about church and state come out all the time, so if anything its getting 'better' for those who think there are laws 'forcing you what to do.' If you mean other reasons, then please explain.

Isn't technically forcing us NOT to say something "christian" in and of itself forcing us to acknowledge christianity in the first place? I don't necessarily not believe in christianity nor to I disavow other religions either, but I still say fuck you to those who try to limit what I say, wether it be Merry Christmas or any damn other thing I feel like saying that may or may not be PC pending the current debacle on Capitol Hill.
Kind of like the mantra youre unique, just like everyone else. Try so hard to be this way or that, only to find that you did just the opposite of the intended goal.
Freedom to express religion, every religion, by limiting our freedom of speech?
Well i think we aknowlege all religions really, but the christian religion has just been more dominate in the past...
