I have noticed that in all the latest posts( read: last 2 weeks) i have made, the Edit button is gone.

I don't like it, but that is the way it has worked ever since we moved to vBulletin.

It can be changed indeed. I frequent other boards that use vBulletin. One of those places has no time limit for edits.
