No prob...just hook me up with some duct tape, electrical tape, and some C-clamps...

Seriously though, sounds like it could be quite the sweet-ass project. Between all you guys, I have no doubt it could become a very real and fun project car.

The reason I ask is I have helped friends install custom motors before, and clearance issues are alway paramount. You want to have room to work on the motor if need be.
Destroking it will make the engine more balanced at higher RPM's. If properly built you can get this engine combo to rev out to 8500+ RPM. I'll probably build it to do that but set the limiter at 7000 just to keep things safe. Chevy had an engine similar to this in the first years of the Trans-Am series in the 60's. This is where I got the idea to destroke it. My original plan was to use a 327 but when I saw that it can be destroked by using a 302 crank I felt this was the way to go for road racing. The engine should fit in the engine bay just fine with custom mounts. I'll probably see what it would take to mount an E30 subframe in the car. If that is not possible I'll get something built that will work with E30 M3 parts so brakes won't be an issue. Fenders will be widened to fit a tire somewhere in the 255 range with a 17" wheel. Rear suspension will be pretty straight forward other than tweaking the E30 subframe to make it work in the E21.

This project won't happen until I get my own house with a big garage but it is something I defiantly want to do and is somewhat straight forward. My only concerns are front suspension/brakes, exhaust routing and finding the right radiator to keep it cool.

The only tools I would need that I don't currently have in my tool box would be a welder, tubing bender, alignment rack and corner balancing scales.

Although in and around my tool box I have some not so common items, 2 pair of coil over springs(480 pound/inch and 560 pound/inch), 3.73 LSD, T3 turbo, almn flywheel and clutch kit for an E30 M3, and five 5L jugs of ELF full synthetic 10-60 racing engine oil. All of those go along with my new Matco 7075 tool box and thousands of dollars worth and hand and air tools I've collected over the last 7 years.

Stick, Wire feed, TIG, or aluminum? I have all of them. How big of a tubing bender do you need? And i have access to an alignment rack as well.

Well the place I might get hired on at in a few weeks has everything but a bender and there is a chassis shop about 20min down the road that can do the cage. But it doesn't really matter since this project won't start till I get my own house which is years away since I plan to start going to school for mech. engineering.
