Hi, the 850 T5-r you're asking about is actually a one year only model....it's cousins the 850R's were 2.5 litre variants produced in 96 and 97. The actual T5-r was produced in 1995 and tuned by Tom Walkinshaw, of Formula 1 imfamy for the express purpose of replacing 850 saloons which had been entered in the British Touring Car Championship in 1994. A very limited number of these cars were produced in 1995 expressly for homologation purposes, and were a fairly radical departure from anything Volvo had produced before....or since for that matter. With a 2.3 litre motor producing 246 brake hosepower in production trim, what some refer to brutal suspension (pickup points, valving, anti-sway bars, and spring rates were selected more for their appropriateness to track use than highway comfort), highly competent brakes, bright yellow paint, and 17 inch anthracite grey wheels from the factory, this isn't your average grocery getter......but hey, I wouldn't trade mine for anythig

.
To answer your question directly, no, none of the 850T5-r, nor the 850R's were offered as a 6 cylender model....T5-r standing for Turbo, 5 cylinder, Race.
