pug 106 help me

hey i need help. i had a pug 106 1.5d on a R plate into my work 2day. because the window wipers and indicates was not working she said that her steering got heaviler to. i thought that it would be a relay or fuses, but then she told me that her battery light has been on for about a week now. so i checked her battery to see if it was charging and it was reading 12.29 volts. will that be the alternator broke. the belt in not loose so turning power steering pump and alternator pulley. i cnt see how the faults are linked together and i dnt want to buy a new alternator then find out that is'nt the fault. any help would be great

Ok, Make sure the belt/belts are at the correct tension, if all good there I would say its the alternator.

How it works: the alt runs the car, electrics, lights, etc etc, after its done this what ever's left it puts in the battery,so if the light is on and all is dying, the alt is unable to keep up,but it maybe the belt/belts.

thanks for the help mate the belts are fine the alternator is costing £150 so i need to know its right. can it be anything else like maybe a relay or a duff battery. what sort of checks can i do to the car to assure that its the alternator. whys it putting power to every other electrical components but not the wipers and indicators or is that just the way the car circuit? so you would defo go for the alternator if it was your car
