My camry keeps overheating when im at idle, but...
when i give it gas it cools down....
i left the car on for a while and the fans didnt kick on...even when its overheating....now, the fans are suppose to kick on whether im driving or not right? does this mean.
1) the relays are busted(anyway to test em?)
2)the fans+ motors are gone, need to replace them
3)wiring issue
best way to test it is take it to someone with mechanical knowledge <3

i got SAME thing on my intergra
except when i shut it off, my fan comes on --- so it's like a turbo car where the fans works when your car doesn't for cooling hehe
but i don't have a turbo
so yeah... i thought it was thermostat, but i don't care much so i ain't fixing it just yet

leak/air pocket in the system ... had the same issue with my 525 back in the day and it turned out to be a hairline crack in the radiator next to the bleed screw.
edit: felt reaaaaaaaaaaally cool revving in traffic especially next to cars 10 times faster that probably thought i was some lunatic wanting to race when i was just trying to get my car to survive. lol
Yes, the fans are supposed to come on wether or not you're moving, especially if the car is overheating. Test the motors first. Unplug them and try feeding it voltage direct from B+ and B-. If you determine that the fans work, then you have to look into replacing the relays, or perhaps any temperature sensor that may act as a awitch.
Do you have the Camry Haynes manual? You should (although the manual prolly costs just as much as the car).

dude, ur not gona believe it, i foung a copy months ago before i even bought the camry....lukcily i didnt toss it
first, check the Fan, just attach power DIRECTLY to it from the battery with some kind of jumper wire(positive and negative)....if it comes on, then its probably 1 of 4 things....the thermo fan switch, or an air pocket, a fuse, or a relay...if it doesnt come on...its the fan motor
