MK4 Jetta 2.0 oil stick

I was checking my mom's oil in her Jetta. Well, checking to make sure the stick was all the way in, the ring handle broke right off! So I'm just wondering if, on some off chance, anyone knows of any way to just repair the handle, or do we need a new stick?
