My Dad said he spotted one. My dad is inept at cars but he went to the gas station on his way home from work and saw a SLR at the gas station> He said a girl was driving it, a guy was pumping the gas. The doors were open Lambo style and it has teh McLaren S L R badging ont he rear. My dad LOVES MB cars and hwne he went around to the frotn and saw the MB symbol he said he was surprised. Even mroe surpised when I came home from work and he actually mentioned seeign a nice car. Told him the car is about $500,000 and his jaw dropped. Apparently everyone at the gas Station was staring at this masterpiece. And even worse, the guy who was pumping the gas was tellign some motorcycle riders that "I bet you my car can beat your bikes"
Although im nto what you call a "fan" of the car, I still find it nice to see that some people in my area do like nice vewhicles and I can respect their affinity for the car.
Spotted in the SouthBay Area - southern California.

they are really nice cars, I told my dad that one day I would have one he said "good luck" the only problem is that I have heard that they only have auto transmissions with sport shift technology and such
with that much engine a manual is needed

on-topic: The car looks nice though. Automatic though? Eh...
Question: I can understand not liking automatics... but what's with the hatred towards SMG? I think that SMG is a revolutionary idea... It's faster, more precise, and more consistent than any human could ever be. It also allows the driver control of the car (unlike an automatic).
I mean, I like the feel of a clutch as well, but when the benefits seem to outweigh the minuses (what negatives other than there is no clutch? - Please clarify me, I really would like to know)... I fail to see why SMG is such a "bad idea."
t's not SMG. It's actually fully automatic i believe
And the main problem i have with SMG is that it doesnt give me enough feel for the cra. I feel more connected with the car in stick. I guess im just not used to SMG enough (seeing as how ive only driven a SMG once (M3)). It just doesnt feel as if you are actually full in control fo the car without the clutch and individual gates.

I was actually being a butt and being off topic. Maybe it's because I have no experience with one (to change this weekend?), but I think the idea is great. Maybe it is as you say, and in practice it doesn't work as well as I'd think. Maybe SMG II or III is worth it, but I isn't...
Hmm...
I work at a benz dealer most(all) mercedes are auto, but the amg and higher models have a 3 diffrent modes they can be in, C, S, and ,M, c and s are shift speeds for when it is in auto mode like changing the shift speeds with smg, m is just like smg the buttons are on the stearing wheel but it isnt that refined, so there for u have auto and smg in one tranny kinda cool but it is gay
