In the past 2 months, my roommate and I have traded in our Explorer and Focus for a new 330i and a 2001 S4. We haven't had a chance to take them out for a nice long drive together yet, and I was wondering what I could expect......His audi obviously has more HP, but does it handle as well as a 330? I may be able to answer this question myself shortly. Just wanted to know what other people think. Thanks

I remember this top gear video comparing the s4 to the new m3...

In a straight line the m3 took it. But around their "track" with their "driver" the s4 took it by a few seconds.

The 4x4 in the s4 is dope. But basically it's just more of a "quiet dinner party" sedan than an "9 in the morning after hour club" sports car (m3).

It should be an entertaining drive.

actually that top gear race was between a 2004 b6 s4 and not the b5 2001 s4.

The S4 you have is slower than the new S4 but (because its turboed) can be modded for very cheap. I drove in a lightly modded 2001 S4 with basically just a GIAC chip that hit 12 second qtr miles. Anyways, the 2001 S4 is faster than the 330i and with its quattro handles better as well. Both cars are great will be loads of fun tho.

does your 330i have sport suspension, if so you'll out handle the 2001 S4.

hmm i dunno about that. The S4 does have its own sport suspension as well...but im not sure either way.

and the winner is.......


We took turns (no pun intended) with both the 330i and the S4 today and, as expected, the S4 was the winner in flatout acceleration, but we agreed that the BMW won in terms of overall handling and ride comfort. So let it be written....
