So my friend's manual 1994 Jetta vibrates and makes a grating sound whenever she accelerates in 2nd gear from traffic stop.
What could be the cause? used
Would a new transmission be needed?
Its a 1994 Jetta with 60,000 miles that hasn't really been cared for by the previous owner...
Also the front axel dropped out on her a few months ago and was replaced and repaired...
We also just got an oil change yesterday...and the oil tank had to be flushed because it had burnt debris in there...
This might not help at all, but when my beemer did that before it was the flex disk, i used to have a vw dont know if they have something similar to a flex disk..
Sounds like it could be a loose or warped pressure plate. You also may want to check the trannymounts because it sounds like they are either loose or it is misaligned with the engine.
Because if you're going to start in 2nd gear from a stop, you need to give it more POWER than you would if you were starting in first gear. Simple tranmission mechanics.

sorry kraut.. i used to like them too, but my uncle had one for a month and it was a total POS, and my dads friend also had an RS6, which had to be bought back by audi because it was in the shop so much. Most of them have serious electrical issues too.
Those two experiences +the fact that now adays they are engineered ass backwards proves they are junk for the wannabe BMW driver.
The older ones are better from what i hear though!

Yes the older ones are much better from my experiances...and if you aare reffering to me as a wannabe BMW driver you are going to be sorely dissappointed..i could buy an E36 M3 right now and pay cash and not flinch..but i dont want one..we went over this before on the other side haha
Every VW from 1993-1999 was made in mexico...aka poorly...thus giving ALL VW's a bad name...kinda like what most E36 owners do to the BMW Community
