Hi folks,
I don't know why so many people on this forum hate the S55. I love my S55 and I think the S600 is great, too. I know that most of the people on this forum hate benzes, but dude, you have to test drive this baby to believe it. It's the best $100K I have ever spent. I also don't like the way that many people on the Benz Forum bash the 7 series. Because I think it's a great car and the only BMW that I would not get over the Benz is the 760Li over the S55/S600 and I would consider getting the E55 over the BMW though. I think that BMW needs to give the 760Li more HP! The S55 is an amazing vehicle and so is the 7 series. Can anyone give me a reasonable explanation as to why the S55 sucks?
Thanks!

You're an exception. A person who likes fine quality automobiles and recognizes one when he sees it. But I was referring to the poster Lucky, and others who have the same opinion. The S55 is an amazing vehicle!

ya i never said i didnt like them , and what do you mean the 760 needs more HP, to be quite honest i think all these car companies that think that a full sized flagship type luxury sedan needs more than 400 HP are rediculus, these cars arent supose to be rockets, last thing we need is more old people (talking those idiot senior citizens that buy these cars and cat drive for shit in them) with more HP under the hood ,,,because the majority of the car market cant afford these cars without a really good job , or/and some good years behind them.. leave the high HP to the ///M cars and the AMG cars.

i like the merc styling but the one and most important thing to me as a driver is that merc cant make a manual gearbox. quite honestly im not all that impressed with the performance of the merc family (overall) i love their cars dont get me wrong but ultimately id rather a BMW anyday, gimme a M5 over that SL55 amg

Without question those are both great cars. I think the breading of the two cars is somewhat different. Even the top of the line BMW Lux cars lean toward performance. Now I am not just talking about HP here, but the manners of the cars. The Merc just seem to be a little more polite. The BMW a little more in you face. I am sure they are very enjoyable cars to drive. Your lucky to have such quality cars. Enjoy.

I don't think people like that Mercedes will make a 500 horsepower car, and won't give you the option of a manual transmission. I think all mercedes are awesome (except for the SUV, and the hatchback) but the thing I dont like about the sl55, and sl600 and those cars, are that they way about 4400 lbs, which is close to a freakin SUV, thats my only problem with them.

Paradise,

Youre talking to a bunch of youngins (like me) on this board who love modding cars and improving their time slip at the track. Youll get biased opinions because of that..and because its a BMW board.

BMW - is performance luxury
BENZ - is luxury performance.

Benz is starting to really kick in the performance side more and i think having so much power in a huge sedan like the S class is insane and cool. But its not for the average 20 or 30 year old. When Im about 40 with 2 kids or so, i might take that simple S55 with a huge engine and a soft automatic over a complicated 7 series.

You cant beat BENZ when it comes down to pure luxury with a beast of an engine.

I'd be honored to own either S55/S600 or the 760. They are truly benchmarks of automotive engineering.
