I currently own a 328iS but I've always been fascinated by the passion and design of Alfa Romeos. Supposedly they're coming back anywhere from 2007-2010, and if I come into money by then I'm going to have myself a bright red 156 GTA in my driveway.

Any other Alfisti that read these boards?

Yeah they did, they haven't sold cars here since 1995. I think the last models sold here were the 164 Quadrifoglio (great sports sedan, 230hp) and a late model Spider.

But if they come back they could give BMW a run for their money...

I used to have an Alfasud which was their smallest car in the 70s and 80s. It actually won car of the decade in the 70s. It was a fantastic little car that weighed next to nothing and yet produced 85BHP (bear in mind this was the 70s!) It was a little rocketship. The engine was a flat 4 cylinder with 2 36mm twin choke Webers, front wheel drive.

The car was years ahead or it's time. The front brakes had inboard disks rather than the usual configuration of having the disk by the wheel. This had several advantages, they did not get wet when you when you drove through a puddle or something, they were very easy to change, but most importantly the brakes used the play in the bearings at both ends of the drive shaft and the universal joints as a very simple sort of mechanical anti-locking mechanism.

The car was pure genius.

got some friends in Italy who work for Fiat group, they all drive Alfa's. Beautiful looking cars, handle very nicely & if you choose the right engine they're pretty good.
Over the last couple of years they have also got over their "reliability issues" and now produce cars that you can actually drive off the forecourt!

my uncle was going to sell me his restored romeo for 3K for my 1st car. it was in great shape, but my parents said it wasn't safe enough.......sucks

AMG can't build an NA engine that can compete with M engines, so they stick in a supercharger and say their cars are faster. BMW could simply do the same, but they don't out of principle.

Yeah, Alfa's definetly have a style all their own. I think one of the reasons their cool is that no one much has them over here (U.S.)
