No more "E"

Quote:
BMW to drop "E" nomenclature?

BMW has dropped its internal "E" designation system, according to the latest issue of Motor Trend magazine. BMW has used the system since the 1960s. Recent examples of the naming scheme include the E90 (2005+) 3-Series, or the E60 5-Series. E stands for Entwicklung in German, which means Development in English. The last vehicles to use the "E" designation will be the E92 3-Series coupe and the E93 convertible. According to the report, the new designations will begin with next 7-Series, dubbed F01, and the next 5-Series, known as F10.

I dont know how to feel about this. The E is, and has been very important among us Enthusiasts

Tis true, they ran outta numbers, they have used E designations for every thing, there is a list of them all, they have been used for regular cars and special vehicles in euroupe, for police cars and military vehicles

I don't see what the problem with going to a 3 digit number is. Mercedes cars are all that way like W203 for the current C class and such. Why does BMW have 3 different ones for the new 3-series (E90, E-92, E93)? Are they that much different? It will be sad to see it go.
