| Well hello folks, Hello people, said Id do a bit of an intro before I drop a large tech post on the e39 525i power steering. The post in hand covers a more in depth look at the damn noise that can come about, and be impossible to get rid of no matter how many fluid changes you do. The findings will hopefully put it to rest once and for all, and may even surprise as to what you can do without buying a new pump.
Anyway, bit of an intro, some of you may or may not recognise my username, some of yours are certainly familiar to me.
Im from Ireland, and have been working with car engines since I was about 6.
Lets just fast forward on to present day to keep things short!
Im now a design engineer contracting to companies around the world.
Mainly I fabricate uprated car parts when at home as a passtime, mostly German, Bmw, Porsche, Audi, Vw, but have been known to do the odd Ferrari part too.
Its not my main earner, more so a hobby, I prefer to see a great part work, and a guy happy, than the money I get for doing it.
Im not getting much time to do that anymore as during the day, I design and innovate for the consumer electronics market, this involves world travel, and other stuff, but I still like to do the odd interesting part for fun.
Casting and composite work are mainly what the parts entail.
Ive had a lot of cars, mainly Vw Gtis, few Audis, and two Bmws, the current one, being my second one.
Its a 02 525i Msport, in black, steptronic(no haters now!). I love it, its a great motorway mile muncher. I wanted to go steptronic as I had done the whole manual thing for a lot of years, and had a lot of daft engines, and I can live with the step box, compared to some others.
So thats the general rundown, see you all in the tech section shortly, Im just getting the post together now.
Regards,
