Nice forum here! thanks for the effort it takes to keep it up.
I am just another geek who like to build hot rods and drive fast cars. The german variety has special appeal for me with practical VWs (I have 2 TDI Jettas) and very cool performance BMWs. My first Beemer is a 92 525i lowered 2 inches and performance exhaust. Nothing in the world like a long flat desert highway and the sound of that big six pushing a buck and change under your wheels. In a couple days I pick up the next addition to my stables, a 98 740iL. Garage kept all these years by another engineer (read that anal-to-a-fault) it looks and drives like it just came off the showroom floor.
I also like to get cars into really strange places that don't have pavement. For day trips with the wife, the 97 4Runner does pretty good after the addition of a detroit locker in the butt. For serious drives, the 69 Willy's has been "upgraded" with everything that made a Dodge 2500 diesel go. From the big Cummins to the monster axles and an extra foot of ground underneath it's gone everywhere I ask it to go. Not fast, but sure and strong.
