Service Light Reset

Hi, I'm so fed up with high garage costs that I have started to service my old 1998 5 series E39 520i myself. I've changed the oil and filter and a few other things and now wish to reset the service indicator. I've unscrewed the pin housing under the bonnet and found it has 9 holes and 4 pins in the cover. Is this the correct place to reset the service indicator or is it somewhere? I read that I have to short out pin 9 and 17 but how do I tell which pin is which? Thanks for any help you can give

No problem, Howard... Glad you're sorted mate...
It's sometimes faster to give you the links to see for yourself, as opposed to a long-winded explantion !!

Airbag light is a different story...
The passenger seat Occupancy sensor is a common fault, either replace it, or by a cheap by-pass from ebay !!!

Sometimes (not very often), it could be as simple as unplugging and then re-plugging the connector under the seat !
