problems with my e46 m3 harman kardon system

hello all,

i have a 2002 m3 with the harman kardon sysyem in it, all was good until my drivers side speakers stated cutting in and out (they now have stoped all together on that side)

they were not distorting they just stoped working. all the other speakers are working fine.

i took it to a stereo guy and he looked at it all and has told me the problem is the amp and that one of the pre amps has gone and i need to replace the whole unit (amp)?

does this sound right, he is a good guy and i trust him but just wondering if he is jumping the gun?

Hi devine13, sounds like I have something similar (330 e46, 2004). Sound would change in tone every 5 or so seconds. Did you find out what was the problem?

Theirs 2 amps in the vehicle, it is possible one has failed. If possible check all the wiring and connectors leading to the speakers. The system is known for when one component fails, the whole system stops working. In my E36 if i disconnect the rear speakers nothing else works. Same with the CD changer.
