I am new to BMW. Could someone guide me to a guide that tells me what the different identifications are for the different models? As an example I see e46, e**, M* (I believe this to be the M series, which I also believe to be the high performance models), and we have the 325i, 135i... So many designations and so little time. All responses are appreciated.
The E numbers are chassis codes for a set of years. As an example the the E30, E36 (1992-1998), E46 (1999-2006), E90 (2007-2011) are the model codes for the 3 Series. The M stands for Motorsport and is the high performance version of that model. M3 is a 3 Series, M5 is a 5 Series, and the M6 is a 6 Series.
