picked up an E30 - BMW Forum

hey guys just grabbed an '87 E30(325i) tonight.

200k miles, auto, and runs strong. got to test out the LSD on the drive home, fell in love instantly.

i'm in maryland. haven't had to work on a car before, but i am ready to learn and try and fail and try again. lol

any advice would be great.(suggested mods, working on it, local shops)

i know i need to rebuild the driver's door lock so that is gonna be my first project, will throw pics of that up when i start.

anyway, hope to get to know everybody.

yep silver, paint is rough on the rough but body is clean.

can't wait to start tearing into her.

hey i'm curious if the E36 stock valance/bumper would fit on the e30. and if it does how would it look?
also i heard the volvo 750 front valance would look pretty good on the car.
anyone have pics of either?

I would start with looking into the diving board delete mod. Just drill into the bumpers shocks and push the bumper back so that there is less metal showing. Or you can convert the bumper to the 89-91 bumpers that are all plastic and make the car look more modern.

Good luck with the car, everytime i drive my e30 i remember why I love it so much.

how much work would it be to take the bumper off and put the 89-90 bumper/valance on?
bolt in or little modding?

as for the shocks...how hard is that to do?

Before you go doing body modifications, you might just want to touch up the paint. I have use this site before, and I noticed they have an '87 color called salmon silver metallic - that may be your match!

No problem! It's a gorgeous classic car, and I hate to see body modifications when they're not necessary.

i'm not really trying to mod the body, it is missing the front valance, so its like-hey while i'm at it, why not go an extra step.

does need a wash first though lol
