newbie w/ 318is - BMW Forum

just got a very cool slammed '94 318is with 19's on it. was a theft recovery, needs a lot of bodywork, new front bumper/door handles/ignition etc. but overall a pretty sweet car. being I am the new owner and cannot find the original owner it has been interesting trying to figure out the mess of wiring etc. it apparently had a huge stereo system in it as well as a whacked out security system. as of right now it has a main power on switch and pushbutton start which is working well.

I am 42 now and figure its almost time to grow up a bit so I think I will take out the autoloc flamethrower that is in the ashtray lol........ I would like to find out more about the wild full stainless exhaust system and see if I can quiet it down a bit though so will be asking for help along the way thanks.

it has a flip down video monitor in the headliner, but nothing to give a signal to it as the stereo was "borrowed" quite forcibly. So I am looking for a dvd player/in dash unit that has outputs if anyone has a great one kicking around, ideally one with a hidden screen as well.

can anyone tell me what make/type this wing is? and some opinions of whether I should put it back on the car or not? lol, thanks

Why do you have a theft recovery and not the original owner? The wing? It's basically ricer! It's gotta go! And please do the exhaust repair...

good buddy of mine works for a huge towing/recovery/storage facility in vancouver bc, canada and gets a lot of stolen recovery, towing and storage vehicles/ bikes that just get left and eventually the customers/insurance companies pay the storage or write them off........................good deals for some. I got a good deal. you tell me whether $2500 for this car was a good deal? no leans or claims against it free and clear title from the province etc.
there is a whole whack of work done to the engine and suspension as well.

I was just being sarcastic, of course I know it was a great deal, that was why I picked it up.

I was just looking for some others input as to whether the wing should stay or not.

the front bumper was also cut off with a skillsaw apparently to steal the carbon fiber bottom lip it "had". so now I am trying to find a set of sideskirts and an M3 style front bumper cover for it to try and get it looking like a bmw again instead of a rice burner.
