Hi people. I just bought my first BMW. It is a used 328i. So far I am impressed with this car. Now I'm thinking about buying a 5 series for my wife. However, I do have one question which I'm sure someone on the site can answer. This car does not have a CD changer and the long term test report done by Edmunds indicated the stereo system is no that good. Does anyone have any recommendations for a replacement aftermarket stereo and/or CD changer.
ummm... stereo/CD-that as matter of personal preference, really. There's also the Q of how much you are willing to spend. i suggest u go to an audio shop so u can view different forms and sample the sound, then u decide from there. some are plain and even ugly to look at and not even blend with ur dash, but they provide excellent sound. others look good(with matching backlights even, but the sound isn't up to par. :-)
I should have known there was no easy answer. OK, off to research I go. The advice is good even though I was looking for that "everyone gets this and they are extremely happy" answer. Nonetheless, as all things in life, the harder I work, the luckier I get. Hopefully, I will get a system that I like without going into foreclosure.
The problem with stereo equipment is there is no cookie cutter solution for all. Since we all hear things differently it is important to buy the equipment that you think sounds best and fits your budget. I recommend going to car audio shops and asking for demos on equipment because even though the internet can give you prices/specs it's still not capable of giving you an audio performance.
