Hi I'm BMW MICK and hope to get a little advise on this forum i have a 535d e60 chipped to 313bhp
Hi bought a full set of m5 wheels for my 535d but have trouble with the tyres rubbing over pot holes and speed bumps tyres are 285/35/19 and 255/40/19 continentals any one know the problem
Both front and rear tyres are one size up from standard (from memory), did you check how the rolling diameter of the original tyres compare to the new tyres? Also check the offset of the original wheels to the new ones, that might give you some insite to where the problem lies. You should be able to see (either on the tyre or body work) where it is rubbing. I'd almost put money on the rear wheels making contact with the external guards, but check the front suspension for signs of contact as well.
285 on the back not the front and found now only catches on where bumper meets wing so to the body shop to have the seam rolled off then bingo it will be fine hopefully
I had a set of Sryling 176 wheels from an E65 on my E38, they were 245/45/19 (19x9 +24 front) & 275/40/19 (19x10 +24 rear). Not what you'd call a lot of space to spare anywhere, but no rubbing either. The only reason that go rid of them was that they were a royal pain to keep clean, just too much time required to keep them in shape.
