New member saying hello

I would like to say hello to everyone here in the forum. I have used the forum for technical help many times in the past and is still a great help. I own a 1995 325i convertible that I purchased in 2009, while working in Germany. Up to this point, the car has been trouble free.

I am having some difficulty with the car starting. When the vehicle is cold, it starts fine and there is no drivability issues (car runs strong and no hesitations). Driving the car for 20-30 minutes, shutting down, and then attempting to start after it sits for 45mins - 1 hour, the car will turn over, attempt to fire and then die. If the gas pedal is pressed slightly when trying to start, it will run rough for 4-5 seconds, then run and drive with no issues. If the car sits at work or overnight, it starts with no problems.

Using the process to check the codes for the obd I system, there are no codes displayed. I have changed the spark plugs, fuel filter, fuel pump relay, and DME relay, checked the fuel pressure, but to no avail, this gremlin is still there. I am not having any problems with the fuel pump, as the car drives great once it starts.

Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Have you checked your ICV or MAF? What about O2 sensor?

How long does it have to sit for before it will start and run again without any issues after being driven?

To answer your question Brettski, the car needs to sit at least 4 hours before it would start with no issues.

Per Lord Vader's suggestion I removed the MAF and ICV and cleaned them. The symptoms have since progressively improved. It seems to get better with each time it us driven.
