Hi! I just purchased a nice 1982 320i, and quite excited about getting her on the road. All in all not too rough,it's in Arizona so obviously needs paint, has the starting problem that I have read about here, needs a couple of cv boots, marker lights, left taillight assy, a few minor dents, but really clean inside with no real interior issues. I did find that the rubber hose between the air filter and intake was badly tore up and had been taped together--maybe the starting problem?!?! Anyway good to have found the site and will be bothering you folks with questions--will be posting some pics.

Welcome to the Werkz.

Good to see the photos, and you have a good starting point with the damaged intake boots, also check for other vacuum leaks around the intake manifold and throttle body assemblies.

Thanks Brettski! The owner stated she was running fine, then one day started missing, dying and then just stopped starting at all, he said he tried the starting fluid trick and she would run until the fluid was gone, so I have ordered another boot, should be in any day and we shall see! Thanks for the tip.

I just received my first BMW. It's a 98 328i convertible. It's a good car (I hope) it's going to replace a Harley Davidson motorcyle, at 73 my wife and I will feel safer on 4 wheels. Also I like to tinker so I can fix her up. I need a bently manual to start. It also has a hard top that needs the lining redone can use thoughts on that. So that's my story, I'll put pictures on as I get them. We'll in Ohio going to Texas. Nelson
