| New Member -- 1983 320i / E21 Hello all!
This is great to find a site of BMW lovers like myself! Until recently, my love has only been from afar. However, at the beginning of the summer, I bought my 1983 320i for $600 from a guy on craigslist. Just over the summer months, I put over 8,000 miles on it and i absolutely love it.
The original starter went out on it, and I couldn't find anyone who would change it for less than what I paid for the car. Even though I don't have a whole lot of experience working on cars and no experience working on Bimmerz, I decided to take the job on myself. The starter on my model is at the exact center of the motor and requires removing all sorts of things including the intake manifold. After a total of about 8 hours of work, I was able to get it all put back together EXEPT FOR TWO LITTLE WIRES.
I'm so dumb. I have two female wires with harnessess and for the life of me I can't find the male counterparts. These wires are ignition related, so I haven't been able to even check the new starter that I put in. I bought the Haynes manual AND the Chilton manual and neither of the wiring schematics are helping me with my problem. I know I should have taken pictures beforehand, and I have learned my lesson, but I NEED HELP!
I will post pictures of those wires today.
This site is awesome and I can't wait to learn more about the BMW family.
