Talking New to forum and BMW!

Hey there, I'm hoping I found the right place to keep my '96 BMW 318i happy and healthy!
I have never had a BMW before and am a little nervous about what others tell me about cost of maintence and repairs at dealerships. From what I've gathered by scaning over this forum it looks like things will be good as long as I stick with my scheduled maintence and avoid the dealers.
I've always been great with my 3k oil changes and changing belts every 60k. Is there anything else I should take care of regularly?
I live in Houston Texas and was wondering if anyone could recommend a good shop to take it to for maintenance and repairs? Do I need to go to a BMW specific person for oil changes or can I just take it to a lube place?
Please help me keep my car running happily
Thanks!

greets. As long as you treat your car to proper maintenance, it's gonna run forever. And you are right, stay away from the stealers.

Got any pictures?

A regular lube place is just fine if your absolutely mechanically inclined.

Buy a jack.. and a oil pan... it will buy it self within a year.

Oil changes on these cars are incredibly easy.
