Hello everyone im enjoying looking at all these threads and all the helpfullness you give to newcomers. Ok so lets get to the point, I am looking for either a 1996 BMW M3 or a nice 1996-1999 540i yet i cant decide im looking to spend about 8k on either but any input on my decision would be great! Sorry to dissapoint you, but 8k is not gonna get you a M3 or a 540i. Unless the car has issues, your not going to get an M3 or a 540i for less than about 11,500. I mean you could get lucky, but your not gonna find these cars in a 8k range. I would recomend a 328i.
If your talking about cars with well over 100k, then im sure you will... My '97 328i with 104k is worth about $7,000. So i dont know of many, if any M3's out there for this price range. Not to mention that if you do find an M3 for this price, it obvoiusly needs work. I test drove a 97 M3 sedan last week that was for sale for $8,900... but it has a rebuilt title and many dings... I would not reccomend any M car or BMW V8 unless you have plenty of cash to maintain it. Insurance is also more.
save up a little more cash and go for the m3 or 540... i like your attitude of thinking big so if i were you i wouldnt settle for less... keep the goal high and keep saving it up... when you have enough money then i would look into the 540 for class luxury and speed, and the m3 for agility, class, and speed... if you need any more help then let us know... also if i were you there is also the e30 m3 which IMO is one of my favorite bimmers of all time... check it out...
Thanks man I have also been looking into a 328i in the 6-8k range and just moddin' the fu*k out of it. Im hopefully (if the cash is there) replace the suspension with the Eibach Pro-Street kit, and full UUC exhaust system. Hell maybe a little down the line go with a supercharger
Thats probably a better idea, but if your REALLY want the M3, just wait a little longer and it will find you... If your going to go as far as S/C a 328i, just wait a lil longer, buy an M3 so you have a better start. Just be patient and sift through many cars before handing over the cash...
The thing is i have already previously owned a 1996 M3 (97000 miles) that i bought 9 months ago for 9600$ but was stolen 3 weeks ago, cops found the car stripped of everything, including engine, tranny, sidepanels both front and rear bumpers, even the shift knob. So im sure ill be aiming at a 328i.
Shit man! you should have told us this in your first post! That really sucks, but atleast you must know about the M3. Good luck in your search. PS- where do you live?
I live in Colorado and my insurance company (FARMERS) is actually contemplating whether or not to re-imburse my fu*kin' cash, i swear sometimes i just wanna walk in there call everyone there pillowbiting douchebags and shooting them all. For as much i pay for insurance they shouldnt have to even think whether or not to cover a STOLEN CAR.
