Just cleared a chk eng light with tune up --its back!
got a chk eng light 2days ago. ofcourse a tune up was suggested and completed. new ign coil and plugs and gas filter. filter and oil change also done. it is now 2 days later and the chk eng light is back and the car won't stay started. it bucks like a old truck and sounds scary. I won't even drive it to the shop. what gives here? any help will be greatly appreciated.-mybanginbmw.com
Check for any vacuum leaks that might be messing up the air fuel mix. When you start it, try putting your foot hard on the brake pedal, if it sinks when you start cranking and the engine fires then you may not have an air leak, if it doesn't, then start probing around you vaccume lines and the boots between the inlet manifold and the Air Mass Sensor.
