How to do a Battery change in 2005 525i

We are trying to find out how to change the Battery in our 2005 525i. One place said to go thru the trunk, then another mentioned the seat? Also a detailed "How to" would be so helpful! Would this also apply to our 2001 M5 ?

Actually I do not have any experience yet on changing the battery of a 525I. But I think all the procedures are the same. What I suggest is that you read manuals on how to change battery of cars so that you can have an idea on how it is gonna be.

Shouldn't the 525i be still under the factory warranty? If you can afford an 05 525 and an m5, you should just take it to a mechanic.

It's on the right side of the trunk in both of them (under the cover/in the floor).

Undo the 10mm bolt to loosen the clamp on the negative post, disconnect it, do the same for the positive. When both are unhooked, undo the battery retainer (may vary) and take it out. Install is the exact opposite of removal.
