Hi new member needs HELP!!

Hi everyone I'm new to the forum and have a lovely 94 325TDS SE auto.I have had no problems in the 2 years of ownership up until now. When she's cold it takes a minute of constant turnover (after glow plug light has gone out) before she starts with a bit of a cough and splatter then runs as beautiful as always. Once this happens i can turn her straight off and she starts as normal, but you leave it a while say few hours problem occurs but doesn't take as long as when left over night. Been told glow plugs, but just wanted to throw it out there to get some feedback from you guys and i'm on a budget!!
Thaks for reading
James

yeah that sounds like the glow plugs to me. Those are the classic glow plug gone West symptoms.

By the way welcome aboard good to have you

Have a look at RealOEM.com Online BMW Parts Catalog

for the part number, and then try Pelican or FCP for the parts.

I have no idea how much they cost in your part of the world but here in England you could probably buy four of them for under 60 quid.follow the link by the previous poster and all should become clear, good luck.

It could be the glow plug relay(s) too!
Run a live from the battery to a 30 amp switch (make sure the wire can take it too!) near the dash and another wire to the top of the glow plug rail...
Turn the ignition on and hold the switch for 10-15 seconds and release... If it starts first turnover, then a wiring/relay fault, if not then plugs are shot...
Just a cheaper way of finding cold start probs on a diesel !!!

you'll need to get it fixed before the winter comes, otherwise you'll be walking. Glow plugs really aren't very expensive and they should be within the capabilities of most people. I'd put money on it being the glow plugs. Good luck with the house moving
