I spend my free time fixing stuff on my E36 (318). Just took out the mechanical cooling fa ad installed an electric one, QUIET AT LAST!!!.

if your clutch fan was noisey it was bad, did you try just installing a new fan clutch?

here in Nigeria, the practice is to wire d fan permanently on cos of the hot weather and fear of overhaeting. I read about d electric fan and actually saw one in use. Wired in the fan in series with a temp switch, works well. Temp is always on half way.Now I can zoom down d street and d only give-away is dat d fact dat i whizzed past pple. no more howling.
