Hello everyone!
I'll start off by saying I'm a huge BMW fan. My mom has an 06 325i and 02 325xi that I occassionally use when I needed to drive some where since I was allways chauffered by someone lol.
I want to get my first BMW, an E46 M3 (likely 02-03) as a daily driver for this summer and by late fall if business is doing well I want to pick up a 7 series.
I'm having a hard time deciding on if I want the SMG paddle or to go with the tried and trued 6speed. Will the SMG hold a gear to the revlimiter? If not is there and ecu tune that I can program its shift points and let it hold gear on the limiter? Also does it shift when you tell it to, not like the tiptronic stuff on my moms bmw's where it takes 2 full seconds to be on gas again?
Also are there any problems with the smg on the track like trans overheating as It will see a lot of use? I'm likely going to have to drive it to see if its worth it giving up my left pedal.
Please forgive my lack of knowledge twards automatics as I've only raced manuals.
