Well it probably gets worse (from your perspective). What we call Winter in Melbourne (south) only gets down to maybe -2C at the absolute worst, usually 1C and very very very rarely any snow in the city and suburbs, and my sister that used to live near Darwin (north) would freak out when the temperature up there got down to their chilliest Winter days of +14C.
