hello all not exactly new just been away awhile

ok i love bmws im proud owner of an 1984 bmw 528e ive owned 15 yrs now cars been great to me this is first time ive really had a problem not sure where to go car died last week and after looking around forums i replaced crank position sensor ok ive changed distributor cap and rotor i was told to run a hot wire from positive side of coil to pos side of batt and negative side of coil to ground on eng car started could i possibly need a new coil car just cranks no start please help love my bmw

Could be a wiring (or relay) fault before the coil as when you put the live to it the coil worked as it should !!

Welcome back to the Werkz.

Also check the ground side wiring on the coil.
