Hey all,

I bought an alpine 1993 318is on the weekend and it's my first BMW. Was a emergency buy as my car failed it's MOT and I needed to drive 200 miles back up the road the next day. Anyway, it was the cheapest car in England with 12 months MOT and I got it for the grand sum of £500!

As my first BMW, I cant compare, but it drives very very well! Need to clean the ICV as it occasionally goes mad on idle but other than that its great, not even a scratch on the bodywork.

Know nothing about BMW's but I build around on my Peugeot hatchbacks so have some mechanical skills. (axle replacements, heater matrix...)

Slight tremor in the steering wheel around the 50mph mark and at 70mph but I'm putting that down to balancing (fingers crossed).

So never thought I would get a BMW that cheap, had a upper engine rebuild at 100k and is now at 142k with full service history and getting 420miles to a tank which I guess is alright.

Anyway, look forward to some banter and general help with odd jobs!

Just have to go and find some air intake cleaner now...

I ride between York and Glasgow at the moment and hoping to get stuck in York one weekend.

every weekend at the moment, which is why i would have preferred a diesel..also got a 306 hdi which gives me 650miles to a 55liter tank but the mrs prefers that car. Hoping to move down to york soon so not wanting to clock up too many miles on the beamer.

I hope the vibration is just balancing, if not then most likely a bush or warped disc !

that's an epic trip to be making every weekend. Here's hoping the cars up to it, hopefully the wobble is just the balancing.
