Well I had a 97 E36 M3 back in 2000 for a couple years. Am in the process of looking for another car that will seat 2 kids. My wife says why not another E36 M3? So now I am looking at a 97/early model 98 M3 Sedan. Little hesitant on a higher mileaged M3 but I don't want to disappoint my wife.

any pointers on buying a m3 with 100k-120k miles on the odometer appreciated.

Welcome to the Werkz...... A 100k to 120k is not a problem for the E36...as long as the car is well maintained....here are some common e36 issues:

Rear shock mounts
Differential bushings
Door panels coming unglued
Door panels bubbling
Plastic waterpump propellers that break apart
Failure prone Radiator (cracked radiator neck)
Ball joints
Trunk wiring loom
Guibo ( Flex disk)
Wheel bearings
Radiator level sensor
sagging glove box
clogged ICV
RTAB's (rear trailing arm bushings)
