| e36 options Hello all, new bmw enthusiast here turned over from japanese cars since i started working as a tech at a euro repair/tuning shop. just picked up 99 323is looking to swap all m3 goodies and either build my 2.5 and boost it or swap in a m3 motor and go mildly tuned NA.
Im a turbo enthusiast and dont mind the common drawbacks lag, etc, but I have driven a few e36 m3s in various states of tune, always being impressed. However, im still leaning towards building a mean turbo possibly stroker with my 2.5 block, but it is mainly a driver, seeing occasional road course/autocross track use so I want to keep it somewhat streetable. My main deal is that I dont want to loose control of the factory ASC, and the ability to turn it on and off, which as far as I know isnt possible with stadalone engine management systems. I only have experience with a few of them though, im looking to talk to some experts on these cars to find out what my options are as far as flashing, or possibly a BMW specific software to be able to keep the car as stock as possible while still turbocharging. any fab work and custom install parts etc is no problem I just don't want to have a daily driver that doesn't utilize factory features. I have a 300-350 hp goal looking for the most cost effective way to get there because I could get a e36 m3 motor/trans for reasonable that could reach my goal while still being streetable.
sorry for the novel, and I will post in other forums just trying to get some info. thanks any help is appreciated |
