Cool CD Changer problems

Have a 2000 M5 and the CD changer is not operating. It gets power but the CD's don't play and the readout says NO DISK when the magzine is full. Any suggestions? Should I replace and if so what brand and if not is this a common problem that can be fixed? Thanx!

ever heard of lens cleaners????

you should try and put 1 in the magazine let it run, and then try again. The NO DISK reading you see means that maybe ur lens can't read

I'm thinking your disk presence sensor has gone the way of the dodo. My suggestion would be to get yourself an iPod and a DICE integration kit.

I was visiting my in-laws last weekend and my father-in-law was having the same problem with is 2000 323i. I first removed the unit and plugged it into my X5 to make sure that the problem was with the CD changer, and not a problem with wiring, etc. It produced the same error. Before declaring the CD changer dead, I went to Best Buy and purchased a Maxell CD laser cleaning kit. The kit includes a cd that has small brushes to clean the laser, as well as several audio tracks that test the system. It worked like a charm and his CD changer is back in his car, functioning properly. You might give it a try before doing anything more expensive.
