Hello all. I'm Jason and I found my way here from the Subaru (NASIOC) forums. Just sold my 2006 STI swapped Forester XT and will be purchasing a used BMW soon. It will be either a 3 or 5 series, with a 5 speed manual, between 2000 and 2002 model years.
I have done quite a bit of research and I am left with only a couple main questions. MP3 Playback capability has become important to me as I am used to having all my music available to me at once. I also prefer the look of all OEM interior components. It seems as if it is easy to upgrade most 3 series headunits to the newer, "CD53" units which are mp3 capable. I was wondering if the same holds true for 5 series models?
Also if you have have any advice for me, feel free to share. I am not going to be picky about engine choice or color or body style... I will just be looking for the best condition 5 speed 3 or 5 series in my price range. I plan to do most maintenance and repairs myself. even though this car will be considerably slower than my outgoing forester, I look forward to the increased comfort, quietness, BMW handling and vault-like build quality. Not to mention that Subarus are ugly, and BMWs are not. Thanks in advance for any help. :thumbup:
