Cool 528i Radio Woes...Help

Hi All - I am new to Bimmerwerkz...

I have 98 528i that I totally love!!!! While driving my radio just stopped working...Head unit has power and all looks ok. Replaced Amp w/Used unit that came off another car and was working but that didn't help...all fuses checked and are good...but still no sound...Help please...can't stand the silence any longer...Thank you.

Disconnect the NEG terminal on the batt, leave 10 minutes, re-connect and see what happens.

WARNING: Make sure you have your radio code prior.

I have the same problem with my radio. All the lights and functions work but no sound. I had to replace the battery recently and think that this was linked to the silence. What is the radio code?

Send a message via Yahoo to warcraftjjs
Radio code is most of the time in your owners manual or you can get if from you BMW Dealership. But if you disconnect you batter or you radio the radio will lock up untill you put in the Radio Code.

As already said you need the code, apart from the dealer an audio specialist with decode software can also find the code.

I thought that I would let you know that if the radio stops emitting sound but works otherwise that the amplifier on the radio unit is finished. Surrender yourself to a new sound system and enjoy music again. Also the 1997 528i doesn't have a code issue when this happens.
