520i 1993 BMW Dashboard Badges

The wood-panel strip across the dashboard, of my 1993 520i, features four holes containing sunken screws. A tiny BMW badge/symbol is fitted into each hole to disguise the sunken screw.

Does anybody know if this a standard feature or an after market feature or what the purpose of the srews is? My local BMW dealer is unfamiliar with this feature and cannot replace the missing badges/symbols.

Clarify - 520i 1993 Badges/Symbols

To clarify my original message - the screws in question are center console mounting screws and lower facia panel inner screws. The plugs which disguise the screw holes and display the BMW symbol are missing. Is anybody familiar with this feature and doe anybody know if these parts are available please.
