318i cutting out at any rpm

My 1985 318i would intermittently cut out at any rpm. It did this for a few years. Now, it won't start at all. I have spark at the distributor but none at any of the plugs. The impulse generator voltage is a bit low at .8 vac (should be 1-2v) but the ignition control unit seems to be fit. The battery is good and I'm getting fuel to the rail. Help.

I had a similar issue and it ended up being the main motronic relay (the white one) on the firewall.

u have spark at distributor.... that means cap , rotor, wires(1 or all of them) is what is wrong ;-)
