2001 530i auxiliary fan trouble

Hi. The auxiliary fan on my 530i doesn't turn when the car is parked and idling. It will occasionally jerk as if it is attempting to spin but rotates only a few degrees. Anyone out there know how to determine if the auxiliary fan is faulty?

answer is right there... "attempting to spin..." attempting to spin doesn't do the job. you need a new aux motor

replace ASAP, My sister '02 530 had the same problem and it ended up ripping some of the blades off after it started to rotate(wobbley) again, luck for her the broken blades didnt punture the radiator or any wires. It takes about 10 minutes to replace and the part is cheap if you buy it from BMA instead of the dealer. BMA sells OEM parts a lot less than the dealer. If your blades are not broken, then all you need is the auxilliary clutch

Cool. I have a new aux fan. How do I get the old one out? I can't even figure out how the get that plastic part between the grill and the fan grill out. I know how to use tools but I can't figure out the trick on this one.
