| 1991 735i tranny driving me nuts
I have a 91 735i 3.5 4sp auto, with a down shifting problem out of 4th gear occasionally. If i use the cruise control it doesn't happen, sometimes it never downshifts and is normal but when it starts it has down shifted to 2nd at about 50mph scaring me that it was going into 1st gear and blow the motor up or break my neck. 1 time the trans limp mode came on and it started shifting fine for 2days only to return whenever it wants. I bought the car with a blown head gasket so I never really drove it until the repairs and it was doing great the first month with no problem whatsoever. Any ideas what to check, I did the head repair myself which was easy since I have been a mechanic for almost 30 years. Thanks for any help. God Bless all BMW drivers. Ken |
