| 1991 318ic owner new to forum
Hey guys (and maybe some gals),
After months of being the 'elephant in the living room,' I am currently resurrecting my BMW back from the dead.
Installed a new ignition switch and battery, installed a new slave cylinder, replaced the old leaking radiator, found a used canvas top to replace my previous one that is way beyond its prime (though I need to install a new rear window in the replacement), and currently I am replacing both lower control arms (that middle nut is hell to remove without a curved wrench!). But the stem on that middle ball joint is also not easy to remove from its mount! wtf?
All this is in preparation to repair the transmission. I have 3 neutral gears - 3rd and 4th gears are completely gone - and will probably have a local independent shop do that work. I am somewhat mechanically adept, but this work is a bit too much for me.
I found this forum browsing around the internet when the thought occurred to me to see if there was a BMW forum 'out there' - and here I am. I should have found this forum years ago!
