Rear bumper reflector on E60

I have just purchased the two red reflectors for the lower part of the rear bumper for my 2006 530i. Of course, there are no installation instructions included. These reflectors are intended to be installed where the indentation is on the right and left sides of the lower bumper, and in fact, it appears that there may be a black plastic insert in the space from the factory.

Any help on how to proceed will be truly appreciated.

If when you put the lense in the indentation its flush with the bumper, I would stick them in, if you cut out the indentation you will need some sort of bracket behind, also you will have to seal around the lense or you will have dirty water running down the bumper from the rain etc. from behind, if you know what I mean.
