well I'm not quite sure when it'll be done. I'm not putting a time constraint on the project for the simple reason that I don't want to rush it and do it wrong, or make compromises that I won't be happy with. It'll be done when it's done. Probably around end of summer ish. Depends on how long it takes to get stuff machined, how much money I'll have to end up spending on it, etc.

There's also a good chance that the conforti M3 software I'll initially be running won't be optomized for the motor I'm assembling, so I may have tuning costs as well.

Nice work dude, I'll be sure to follow this one along!!

Indeed it's really amazing, yesterday I've seen a movie of some E30's with modified M50 engines. 235bhp and 950kg, that just rocks

Isn't there a much easier Valve Spring Removal/Installation tool? I know my instructor in my engine course has one that you just hit and it pops the clamshells out... He said he used to use one like in your photo, but we tried this new one and it takes like 10sec to remove a spring!

Getting the clamshells off isn't a problem. I can do the whole thing in no time at all. It's getting them back on that's the pain. But with a little practice, that's easy too. To be perfectly honest the only reason it was even a little hard was because of how many guinnesses we slammed. I refuse to work on an engine not buzzed. unless I'm doing something sensitive, then I'll do it sober.

Hey... I'm gonna move this to the DIY forum... unless there is more information to be given on this first step.

Let me know,
