Hello all, hope I'm in the right place. I have an e39 528 vanos question. I also have a e34 with the M50 engine. When the vanos in the E34 car kicks in, there is a noticeable power boost. I recently bought a very clean e39 (M52TU). It runs very nicely but doesn't seem to have the top end happiness or noticeable power boost of the M50, (although it's better in the low end) My question is; is this a function of the skinny intake manifold or do I need to rebuild my E39 vanos. I.E., when you put your foot into the 528I do you feel the vanos activate? The car has 150,000 dealer maintained miles and the service records make no mention of a rebuild although the gasket to the valve cover is supple.
