I went to a car show in my 67' vette (sorry Bavarian Motor Works) and what pulls up next to us but a beautiful brand new blue M5. I am a BMW enthusiast as well as C2 Corvette enthusiast. But to get to the point, the guy gets out of it and looks like Santa Clause, he was porky with a long white beard. We talked to him and he was gonna put an induction system on it, which I think is a crime to modify that piece of art. He said he brought the car up to 193 mph, yes, 193 going down route 93, and he was racing his sister in a Zo6. BMW has a chip that limits the speed to 155 mph, but he disabled that. His winter cars were a VW Bug Turbo Diesel and a Volvo. Quite a collection!

the limiter is because the tires arent rated for more than 155, right? so if he's still on stock tires thats somewhat dangerous.

i don't think it has to do with the tires, i think it's electronic, but what do i know?

The tires should handle 190 mph+ straight line. They are electronically limited out of a unwritten areement between msot german manufacturers at 155 mph. This governor can be removed.
