2002 BMW 525i Power Seats Problem.

Hey ppl I got a used 2002 BMW 525i a few weeks ago, and I discovered that the seats are not working right.

On both of the seats the right side motors don't work, so when you move the back part of the seat forward or backward it gets all crooked and twisted because one side is not working on both seats.

Some times when you move it around you can hear the motor catch up, and it straightens up but it still does not work.

I charged my battery thinking that their is not enough power for the motors to work, but that did not help.

Any one here have any suggestions or information about this type of problem?

nasty problem. since u say the motors work... i will have to take a chance and say the bowden cable that makes the left n right seat rails work in tandem.

ummm. will you be doing the work yourself?

seats are gonna have to be taken out of the car to do this job... could be the cable itself, the cable(track) stays.... or at worst, motor gear teeth gone bad.

I have the3 same problem and a local BMW mechanic says it is a mater ofd cable adjustment. My cable is not broken. We tightened it as it was loose and that made the problem worse! Do you know the secret?

Thanks,

Tina

You need to get down low with flashlight in hand so u can peer under the seats and watch the operation of the seat travelling on the rack/see if it moving in tandem with the other.... tightening the cable isn't exactly the answer... more cable slack can provide you the right answer too. ;-)
